Birrmingham feathers
« on: Thursday 13 April 17 09:36 BST (UK) »
Hi
I'm looking for any info (circa 1911) on a Birmingham feather dealer called Jonah Colbosow.
As expected the spelling the surname has variations such as Colbesow, Colbosew, Colbasow etc.

I have his children born Kings Norton district in 1911 and 1912, their Birmingham marriages and his partner Mary's death in 1957, but he seems to have appeared out of nowhere and disappeared almost as quickly. So any info specifically on him would be most welcome.

Thanks in anticipation.

What is Mary's status in 1939?

Where does the feather dealer info come from?  There are some in London hailing from Russia.
Maybe he just flew into the country and flew out again  :-\

Do you know if the first child was born before the 1911 census or after?

Mary's name Silverstone.

Feather dealer came from the lady who asked me to ask.

1911 child was Caila of Kings Norton (became Celia) and have those details.
Cant say an exact birth date
1912 child Zetta also as Yetta of Kings Norton (have her details too)

Family Jewish and Silverstein became Silverstone.

This was an unmarried couple with the lady still married to a surviving partner.
Births were in districts of Birmingham, children's marriages and Marys death all Birmingham
So have presumed 1911 to 1957 the family always resided in the Birmingham area.
If you indicate there may be a possible London connection, I wonder if Jonah was also married and commuted between two partners?

Hi
I can't give you the 1911 for copy right reasons but he's there under John Phillip Collins and his death is as Phillip Colbarow 1875-Sep 1935 Birmingham.
It seems he isn't on the 1901 but take a look at 1911 it does give you some more details.

Hope that helps

How on earth did you get John Phillip Collins from Jonah Colbosow?  Well done!
