findmypast continuous subscription
« on: Tuesday 18 April 17 18:37 BST (UK) »
Has anyone had their continuous subscription automatically renewed for FindMyPast uk lately. Could you tell me how much it cost ? As mine has gone up without notification. The last three years it has been £89.55 .

Thanks Barbara

Mine was renewed earlier this month at £89-55. However when I joined a year ago I was told that my next sub would remain the same as what I was paying then, if you see what I mean.

You should have received a renewal email first - some discussion about that here, including someone who got an additional discount after they complained that they didn't get an email first:

Also some people have been able to negotiate 25% off instead of the standard 10%

Worth a try.

Hi Jomot
I started the first thread, never got anywhere with FindMyPast.
My friend says she didn't get an e-mail thanking her for renewing let alone one saying her renewal was coming up.
I've unticked the auto renewal and will look into options next year.

Hi Retriever

Thanks for the update.   Your reply prompted me to check the Ts & Cs and they state that if auto-renew is selected they wont send an email, they'll just take the cash without notice  :o   I'm due to renew next month so will keep checking it doesn't re-tick itself!

Hi Jomot

They always used to send renewal e-mails and at one time included the cost.
They should have notified a change like that.

Wonder why they never pointed me towards the terms and conditions when I was going on at them about only getting the thank you for renewing e-mail? One better than my friend, she only found out on checking her credit card statement.
