There are 2 marriages of a Thomas Cody to a Mary! ::)

March qtr 1882
Liverpool Registration District     vol 8b, page 328
Cody, Thomas
Mahoney, Mary Ann A

and

September qtr 1887
Cardiff Registration District     vol 11a, page 481
Cody, Thomas
Monks, Mary Hope

I would say it's a safe bet that any Cody-Monks children born in Liverpool belong to the first couple.
And that any born in Cardiff belong to the 2nd couple.

You check Mother's Maiden Names by using the GRO Index Search?
You have to register, but it's free to us.
www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

Thank you for your thoughts contributions.
I do use the GRO.
I haven't checked to see if the Liverpool couple had children there; not sure if it will help as MA has diff surname.
I do have one child from the second couple, born in Wales, & then of course the few children born later in Cardiff to a Mary Ann Monks with Thomas Cody...

Thank you too for your thoughts & information supplied.
I have relevant BMD for all that you mentioned to date, except for Maggie Coady - good one, thanks!
All the children except Mary Margaret have mother as Mary Ann; hers is Mary Hope. Be interesting to see what's on Maggie's birth cert. I've ordered it.
BTW John Thomas was my grandfather (migrated to Australia, sponsored by my parents) & is buried at our nearby local cemetery...
