MCKENNA Family in Co. Monaghan
« on: Monday 24 April 17 03:53 BST (UK) »
Hi there, I am looking for some information on my ancestors from Co. Monaghan. I have little information as a member of the family immigrated to Australia and I can barely find any mention of her ancestors since then. A Mary McKenna was born in Co. Monaghan c.1834 to a Charles McKenna and a Mary Kearns. All I know is that Charles was a farmer. Mary immigrated to Australia (NSW/VICTORIA) around 1856/7 and married George Lillis in 1860 in White Hills, Victoria. There they had three children; Charles Lillis, Bridget Corbett (nee Lillis) and Ellen Prest (nee Lillis). I believe that Charles could possibly have been named after Mary's father. I know that Mary died on the 23rd January 1909 interstate (according to her will), and was buried in White Hills Cemetery, Victoria. I know nothing of any siblings Mary might have had, or any more information on her parentage.

All help is appreciated!
Thank you

You might try asking the clan, as there are 1000's of McKennas

Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

As you have no location you could try try RC registers but you'd have to go through Parish after Parish, there is a basic Filter there, e.g   for Baptisms and Year

http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0316  and others via Map
