Can the surname on this will be deciphered?
« on: Tuesday 25 April 17 23:37 BST (UK) »
Can anyone decipher the surname on this 1622 will and where she is located? It is supposed to be the will of Elizabeth Merry (or a derivation of MERRY) of Levisham; but it sure doesn't look anything like that to me. The will listing has two different volume/folios shown. This one is 38/37...another is 38/46. The 38/46 is clearly MERRY.

I read the surname in the will text as Tholltrope or something very similar.

She is a widdowe.

That's what I thought. I can you read where she is from? I think this is an error in the index. The Elizabeth I'm interested in will be from Lockton or Levisham and I can't read that either.

The place is named in the dark area at the RHS.

It begins with a T and has a long-s at about the fourth position.

The place is in the diocese of yorke.
