Very few Turners in Weston in later years.

As regards siblings, there's a Sophia b 1800, d of James and ELizabeth

Is John your ancestor?  If so - who did he marry and when?  Do you have him on any census?

By 1841 - the parents could be dead

Found a James TURNER marrying Elizabeth WALL on 3 April 1799 in Weston-under-Penyard. Groom is listed as being from Linton.

Source: Transcript of Herefordshire marriages (pre 1837), Herefordshire FHS.

Hope this helps!

There is a Jas. (James?) Turner birth abt 1779 in Weston u Penyard in the 1841 census, with an Elizebth ( spelt like that) aged abt 22.

Some of these turners seem to be Particular baptists, who I think baptised as adults, so some dates may not be reliable.

Several turners with parents James and Elizabeth seem to have been " baptised" en mass in 1809 in non conformist records

Thanks mike

I think this is johns father and sister

Elizabeth possibly died early 1830's ( johns mother )

I believe a few of johns siblings also died before 1841 census

Any leads as to what became of John himself

If it is the correct john did he join the army about 1814 ish,

End up being arrested in Hereford and transported to nsw Australia 1821 on the Guilford after appearing at

Hereford assizes and firstly being sent to Woolwich jail awaiting being transported

Regards Phil

This john turner is still in Upton bishop in 1851, says born  Gloucestershire, farmer of 140 acres, so not the one born in Weston u pen.

There are two deaths for John Turners, in Weston u Penyard 1815 and 1825 I think, both in non conformist records, no ages given but one may be the 1802 birth

Have you tried Welsh newspapers online, on the nat. Library of wales site, they often reported Herefordshire news, there may be some clues there
