*completed* Finlay Cameron's occupation? Death Cert 1882 Scotland.
« on: Wednesday 03 May 17 04:41 BST (UK) »
This is part of the death cert of my 3x great-grandfather Duncan Cameron.

I can't make out the profession of Finlay Cameron underneath his name in the 5th column.

If it helps, Duncan was born in the very north of Scotland in Ross & Cromarty according to census records. Quite possibly in Lochbroom parish. So I'm going to guess with the type of geography, that it may be an occupation suited to rural Highland life. I could be totally wrong of course. Parish records don't exist for Lochbroom prior to 1808 unfortunately so I can't pin down his birth or anything for Finlay.

The details that I already know that are in this death cert -

Person who died: Duncan Cameron, General Labourer, Married to Flora Stewart.

Date and place: 1882 May Tenth, (can't make this part out), 15 Ernest Street, St Vigeans. M, 75 years.

Father: Finlay Cameron, (...his profession)... (deceased)

Mother: Margaret (?) Cameron m.s. Grant (?) (deceased)
Would also like confirmation on his mother's name here.

Cause: Senile disability.

Regarding what you think is his profession, the words are:  ? in Inverness.

Is the missing word possibly a place name?  It still could be a profession, of course.

The second column, third line, I think is:  7 hour P.M.

ADDED:  Senile Debility

ADDED 2:

I agree with Margaret and Grant.  The writing isn't very clear, and the formation of the a is particularly confusing.

I think it says Pendicler in Inverness. A pendicle was a small portion of eg a farm held by a sub-tenant.

No Duncan showing, but other possible siblings with only parent's name given being Finlay (this was a style of writing up by some parish clerks...which is a pain when they exclude the mother!). I have shrunk the link down for the main listing from Family Search www.rootschat.com/links/01k1d/
