Helen Davie m. Peter Edmond
« on: Wednesday 03 May 17 15:22 BST (UK) »
Looking for info on Helen Davie who married Peter Edmond in 1841.  I believe she was born around 1825.  Parents may be John Davie and Mary Wright.  Looking for any siblings, and confirmation of parents.  Cannot find any info on them.  These names are listed on Helen's death cert.

Hi there.

Is this Helen and husband in 1851?

Peter Edmond 53 joiner
Helen Edmond 32 b. Balfron, Stirlingshire
Helen Edmond 4
Peter Edmond 2
Daniel Edmond 3 Months

Address: Dunmore Street, Balfron, Stirlingshire

And in 1861:

Helen Edmond  41  Seamstress, Ag Lab. b St Ninians, Stirling.
Peter Edmond 7 b Balfron
William Edmond 5 b Balfron https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FQL1-FRG

Address: Buchanan St, Balfron, Stirlingshire

Did Peter Snr die in 1859? From these entries, Helen born a little earlier likely around 1819?

The 1861 census info is correct.  The 1851, I believe are different people.  Peter sr. did die in 1859.  Helen's death cert. says she was 60 when she died in 1886, and her parents were John Davie and Mary Wright.  I believe this info is wrong, as she would only have been 15 when married in 1841.  I think she was probably born 1818 or 1819, but can't find any birth records

What was Peter Edmond's occupation? Is this him in 1841 just before marriage to Helen?

Catherine Edmond 60
Peter Edmond 45 wright

Address: Dunmore Street, Balfron

Why do you think the 1851 entry for the Edmonds in Balfron is not the right one?

I have the 1851 census for the family.  Peter was an agricultural Laborer.  It also includes his 5 children Thomas, James, Agnes, Elizabeth, and Helen, which I know are correct.  I don't believe this is the correct 1841 census, since it shows Peter is 45.  I believe he was born in 1813.  I don't have record of a Catherine Edmond either.  Peter's mother was Elizabeth Ewing.

That was my thought too but I found a death certificate showing parents are John Davie and Mary Wright.  I can't find any info on either of them so I wonder if this may be a mistake.  All census info shows Helen was born in St. Ninian.
