HALS Marriage Look Up Request
« on: Sunday 07 May 17 12:20 BST (UK) »
Hoping someone might be able help, there is a marriage that took place in Great Berkhamsted in on 5th February 1721/22 between Samuel Naylor and Sarah.  Online transcriptions seem very split on whether her surname was Rose/Rolfe, I am leaning towards Rose as the HALS index gives that Surname, and they are usually fairly accurate, however I'd appreciate a look up of the marriage record if anyone is going to the archives in the immediate future!

I have checked the FindMyPast digitised registers and this period is not covered for Great Berkhamsted in either the transcribed or the browse records.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

Phillimores records state Samuel Naylor to Sarah Rose on 5th February 1721/1722 at St. Peter's Great Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire.  Hope that this helps.  Pleased to see that you are still pegging away with this family

Hello, hope you are keeping well! Yes I'm still plodding away! This is a different branch to our Wakefield/Plomer lot, I needed a bit of a break - I did find a will of Philip Wakefield that linked Elizabeth Harvey's family to Saffron Walden actually but haven't found anything new aside from that. I think I've probably got as far as I can until the Essex records are transcribed and searchable and the Suffolk registers are digitized, I have a feeling I may find a little more then!

Thanks for that - it seems to be 50/50 taking all the transcriptions into account whether she was a Rose or Rolfe, hoping a look up might solve the debate!
