Charles Fredrick 1849
« on: Monday 08 May 17 17:17 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find Charles Fredrick 1849 born in Chester.I am having problems as often children are called Charles Fredrick ... Surname. He married Caroline Wilson sometime before 1881.I can find info on her as a child and her Father Charles who is a musician! But can't find anything after 1881. When they have adopted Samuel Handley. He is back with his mother in 1891. But what happened to the Fredricks?
I would love to know how they knew the Handleys? Although Caroline was a barmaid for a time so maybe they met there?
Marytm.
Thanks for any info anyone can find🌻

I wonder if Charles's surname was simply missed off the 1881 census??

FreeBMD has the following marriage including
Charles Frederick Adams and Caroline Wilson
Sep Qtr 1876   Birmingham    6d   307

There is this Charles Fredk Adams and family in 1861 in Chester??

Sarah Adams Married 56 b Essex
Martha Jane Adams 18 Milliner b Cambridge
Samuel Law Adams 16 Railway Clerk b Cambridge
Charles Fredk Adams 12 Chester
Maria Pennington 15 Servant

And 1851 ? https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SGVV-V1J

The 1881 entry shows him as Arnold Handley

I think the ADAMS must have gone to the USA.

England & Wales, National Probate Calendar
Adams-Charles Frederick died 23 April 1888 in NYCity. Administration granted to James Jennings Robins (this is his brother-in-law) Engineer the lawful Attorney of Caroline Adams Widow the Relict now residing at 39 Essex street Jersey City in America.

Samuel Arnold Handley (mmn blank - presumably also handley) is with his aunt Elizabeth in Edgbaston. There's also a sister to Elizabeth called Agnes in residence. They're born Oldbury, Worcestershire, children of Richard and Mary. they have some other sisters who could also be samuel's mother - no obvious link to the Adams or Wilsons
