Samuel Ware
« on: Thursday 18 May 17 20:36 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find out a little about my gggg grandfather. His name was Samuel Ware, born 1793 in Lincolnshire  (I think)
All I can find out is that he had 7 children, one of them being my ggg grandmother.
I don't know when he got married or who to, nor do I know where and when he died.
Can anyone help me.........
Thanks in advance

Was he a boatman?
This Samuel has 8 children and is in Lincolnshire in 1841, approximately the right age (allowing for the rounding down of ages):

The children that I am aware of are:

Henry 1824
Samuel 1826
George 1831
Elizabeth 1833
Susan 1835
William 1840
Emma 1841

I don't know which part of Lincolnshire he came from, if indeed he really did come from there.

Thank you all for your help

From freeREG

Elizabeth Claypole m Samuel Ward (I believe could be a mis-transcription for Ware) 27 April 1820 in Ruskington.

Eleven, yes 11, children baptized to Samuel and Elizabeth Ware in Timberland between 1823 and 1841, and I verified the last three born after 1837 with GRO for mother Claypole in registration district Sleaford, which includes Ruskington, Timberland and Martin.

Sadly, no baptism of Samuel Ware on freeREG but there is a possible on familysearch for Samuel Ware birth 13 January 1793 to Willm & Susannah Ware of Nocton Lincoln, which is again in the same general area.

Samuel Ware (boatman/boat owner) is in many trees on Ancestry, at least one of them has a copy of his will (Pear Trees - 3 copies).  Suggest you join Ancestry if you have not done so already.

I wanted to know which part of Lincolnshire your ggg grandmother was from (and her name) to help in finding him.
This is the 1851 census:
Registration district:   Sleaford  Sub-registration district:   Billinghay
Samuel Ware   58  boatman   Martin, Lincolnshire
Elizabeth Ware   50  Rushington
Henry Ware   27  Martin
Samuel Ware   25  Martin
George Ware   20   Martin
Elizabeth Ware  18   Martin
Susan Ware   16   Martin
William Ware   11   Martin
Emma Ware   10   Martin
HO107    Piece 2100    Folio  117   Page 13

So claimed born in Martin, Lincolnshire.
Died before 1861 census.

Elizabeth Ware is easily found in 1861 and 1871 censuses.

Those children showing in the 1851 census (with ages) are the ones that you were aware of, so is that where you got the names from?
