Joseph Sharland Married Sarah Hill 25 Dec 1740 Tiverton, Devon

I am researching my sharland family line back to a John Sharland my 4 x Great Grandfather born 1756 in Tiverton, Married first Mary Cruwys 8th August 1781 St Peters Church, Tiverton, Devon, then she died next he married on 15 April 1786 Jane Prior my 4 x Great Grandmother in St Peters Church, Tiverton Devon.. 

Im trying to find out if Joseph Sharland and Sarah Hill had any children and if my John Sharland born 1756 Tiverton, Devon descends from them. 


As this couple seems to be the originators of the Sharland family in Tiverton, Devon... would welcome any information on this couple and their descendants.

May I ask how you know John was born c 1756?
Do you have his Burial?

Was he still alive and in Tiverton in 1841 Census born c 1761, Occp Woolcomber?
If so his 1844 Death Reg GRO Index has him age 84 so born c 1760.

Joseph/Sarah did have a Son JOHN but he was Christened 1 Sept 1743 Tiverton (F/S.Org)

Thanks for your messages, well Im not sure of John's birth year, but put another post on this site to find his birth year and there were 4 John Sharland's born in Tiverton, Devon that had been found by a couple of people

These were found by two members on this site a DavidG02 and ciderdrinker on here  - both  rootschat aristocrats.

John 30.5/7.6 1756 son of John and Mary Dove
John 29.9/18.10 1756 s of Emmanuel and Mary
John 11.11./25.12 1764 s of Peter and Elizabeth
and at a push John 2.3./10.4 1765 s of John and Mary.

I messaged Tiverton museum and they seemed to think he was the son of John Sharland and Mary Dove, so have gone along with this set of parents.

But am keen to find out who Joseph Sharland and Sarah Hill' children were so I can build a bigger Sharland family tree working forward from them.  So I would welcome any help.

JOSEPH 28 Sept 1752

** William just has Fathers name, all others have Joseph/Sarah

I checked Sharlands in Tiverton on F/S 1600-1760.
The 1st that has been indexed is MARY 26 June 1696, Father JOHN

Just to add before receiving your message about the Sharland family you've found on family search well I found my information on Findmypast which I now realise isnt on Family Search so glad you mentioned this site, as I will also look on there as well and try and amalgamate all the Sharland information I can find from both sites.  I really appreciate your help and love your profile photo really cute baby !!
