Here is the 1850 census for James R:

Name:   James R Robinson
Age:   33
Birth Year:   abt 1817
Birthplace:   Tennessee
Home in 1850:   Subdivision 20, Roane, Tennessee, USA
Gender:   Male
Family Number:   1219
Household Members:
Name   Age
James R Robinson   33
Sarah A Robinson   24
Thomas A Robinson   5
Mary J Robinson   3
Robert R Robinson   0

The transcript for Robert is not correct the original is Robert K.

Leahraye I have not had time to follow this up but there is a tree on A..ty which gives the parents of the James R who married Roxina as James Robinson (1810-1870) and Ann Marie Ragan.

But that history shows James R Born 1842 only had one child?  Robert King?  Am I reading it right?

Robert King Robinson was the son of James R born 1817 (1824 on the Roane History).  As you see on the 1850 census there is no James R (1842)

It looks like the Roane history was not correct on the dob of James R and he was born in 1817.  Perhaps Robert King was specifically mentioned because he made good and was a lawyer by 1880?

Here is the death of Robert King Robinson: https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=30139702&ref=acom

Here is the marriage for Robert King:

Tennessee, State Marriages, 1780-2002

Name:   R K Robinson
Gender:   Male
Marriage Date:   21 May 1872
Marriage Place:   Monroe, Tennessee, USA
Spouse:   Texie Hunt

Here is the death of Roberts wife Texie, although on census forms her name was oft given as Margaret T:

Texie Margaret Robinson
[Texie Margaret Hunt]
Birth Date:   15 May 1858
Birth Place:   Tennessee
Gender:   Female
Race:   White
Residence:   Anadarko, Oklahoma
Spouse:   R R Rabinson
Father:   Lewis Hunt
Mother:   Emily Talbert
Age at Death:   79
Death Date:   2 Dec 1937
Death Place:   Canyon, Randall, Texas, USA

[Sandra I think we both posted some of the same information at the same time]

Believe that this could be the family that has James R Robinson 1842, on the 1860 census

Name:   James Robinson
Age:   17
Birth Year:   abt 1843
Gender:   Male
Birth Place:   Tennessee
Home in 1860:   District 7, Stewart, Tennessee
Post Office:   Dover

Household Members:
Name                  Age
James Robinson           51   Father
Ann Maria Robinson   48   Mother
Eliza Robinson           24   sister
Joseph Robinson           21   Brother
James Robinson           17
Ellen Robinson           14    sister
David Seuelen   97
Adams Seuelen   70
Phillip Brewer   44

Source Citation
Year: 1860; Census Place: District 7, Stewart, Tennessee; Roll: M653_1272; Page: 482

Not a scientific analysis but James & Roxina married in Princeton KY.  Now Princeton is around 60 miles from Stewart TN, whilst Princeton is over 250 miles from Roane County TN.  It seems more likely that the James R with mother Ann Maria is the more likely candidate to marry Roxina?
