I had a look today but I could not identify the hall. The one I thought it might be is Whittle Hill Cottage. Ambrose Hall Lane (unsigned) is little more than a cart track though at the end there is a very large commercial dairy. Unfortunately the house shown in the image above, I am not sure exactly where that is though I suspect it is the Whittle Hill Cottage. There has been a lot of new built house just round that area in the last couple of years so it does not really look like the image any more. I will try to have another look next Tuesday but if it is beyond the dairy I have no hope as the public is not exactly encouraged to enter the yard.

I will have another look on Tuesday but I suspect that new houses have been built in front of it and they probably would not appreciate me going up the drive and taking a photo. Have you thought of writing and asking if the occupants would take a photo for you. I have just spoken to an elderly lady who remembers the Barron family. The Barron Group now run Clifton Dairies at Ambrose Hall Farm.

Hi Jan, I noticed your request for a picture of the Hall when searching for Ambrose Hall whilst reading a book titled 'Shakespeare's lost years' by E A J Honigmann.

You may be interested to know the book  makes reference the the hall in connection with Shakespeare's schoolmaster at Stratford who was from the area, a John Cotom who's mother remarried an Ambrose from Ambrose Hall.

Hope you find interesting
Regards
David
