another go at posting a correctly sized photo
« on: Monday 29 May 17 22:08 BST (UK) »
I learnt to screen shot today

and have downloaded some photos ..tho whether i can find them again in computer hyperspace is another matter .

how many Kb shouled it be ?
If I succeed its a clan of Jones men with their wives spouses + children

i'd like to pinpoint a date so that the unknowns can be identified ...best way is probably to identify ages of children

maybe fashions can tell us something ...pleas feel free to join the guessing game

youngest Boy kneeling at front was Billy Jones b1935
dark haired ladi in flowered dress was my nana Maisie b1899
dark haired young  lady in front was Hazel Jones b1924

can identify most of the Jones men  their sons at the back
But how old are the couple standing on far left standing
and 3 people on right could one be born 1877 half sister Lizzie
or even Ggma Maria born 1859

looking young for age is a family trait ..so looks may be deceptive

was confused by the tall man behind Maisie ..next to my grandad Ted
thought it was a Jones brother but its one of the "children"
Peter born 1923 looks a lot like his + young Billy's father Bill who may be another on back row

young man with open shirt could be another of the chidren ..Teddy ..I dont know his dates

I posted this photo a nice size but dont know how i did it .

I will post another of the 6 brothers  from 1920.if anyone wants to play facial recognition

4 of them are on this photo + maybe the light suited man is a brother too
By the  their sister died in childbirth + her husband returned to Roumania so unlikely to be on this family photo .

Any size photo in which faces, clothes, etc. can clearly be seen is usually fine for 'age dating'.

Photo size boils down to two things:
- the 'resolution': the number of 'pixels' (or dots) in the digital photo; the more pixels, the clearer the details will be and the further people can 'zoom in' on the details like faces;
- the size of the file in Kilobytes (KB); the higher the resolution, the more pixels and the larger the file will be in KB's

Black & White photo files are much smaller than those for colour photos (with the same number of pixels). So uploading B&W photo's to Rootschat very rarely presents any problems.

Rootschat has an upper size limit of  '500 Kilobytes' for uploaded photo's. That's more than 10 times the size of the photo you've just uploaded!

A tip for finding things again on internet: you can of course save the addresses of webpages to 'favourites' in your browser. But I've used 'Evernote' (free) for years and I couldn't do without it. I have an 'Evernote web clipper'  in my browser and whenever I come across anything interesting, I save a link to the website, or part of the webpage to 'Evernote' with 2 clicks. When 'clipping', you can put the clip in a specific  Evernote folder and/or assign 'tags' to your clip A screenshot  is attached. You can find out more at https://evernote.com/.

Hope this helps.

Mike

Just a guess , the boy Billy looks about 14 and the couple look late 40's to very early 50's.

Having looked at my own family album I based it on the ladies clothes and some of the hairstyles.
It's obviously a family event that has brought them all together, is there something in their timeline you can think of that it could be?
