« on: Saturday 03 June 17 00:37 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Please could you tell me the place which is written in the 'Dated at' section.

Also, in the 'Complexion" section  does it say Fair? just a spelling mistake there?

Thanks!

Complexion Fair, spelt correctly. The line above capital F is a dash in the space for chest measurement.
Which army did he join and in what country?

Thanks for the reply.
Yeah I noticed that, but just thought it seemed like it was written as "fari" if anything.

He was in the 39th Regiment and he joined in Bermuda I believe.

Thank you Bookbox! That really helps.

Can I ask.. would 'Tan' be an option for skin complexion? I have a photo of John Henry's daughter and she has dark skin. It just leaves me with questions if he is classed as fair also with the spelling mistake makes me wonder?

Another in agreement - it definitely says 'Fair'. There is no spelling mistake. The first letter is an F not a T, as you can tell by the horizontal stroke going through it.
Perhaps you are being a bit misled by the fact that the dot of the 'i' isn't actually over the 'i' but over the 'r', which makes the word look a little like 'fari' as you observed earlier.

I agree that the word is Fair.

I write my capital 'F' in the same way and the dot over the 'i' tends to be similarly placed closer to the 'r'.   ;)

I did wonder if it could be "Tan"....brown hair and eyes with fair complexion would be unusual, I have seen fresh complexion usually with fair haired people.I realise that there is a which makes it look like an F but T in Toohey looks the same.
Just thinking aloud.
