George William Wells - Clergyman

In the census of  Watford, Hertfordshire in 1861 and 1871  George can be found with wife Martha living in the High Street he was born circa 1809 in Cirencester and is described as a Clergyman. From a child being registered  and baptized in a Nonconformist Chapel in 1836 he is most probably a nonconformist. I have checked The Clergy of the Church of England Database 1540-1835 and I also checked the Surman Index and Methodist Ministers database without success.
Can anyone throw any light on which church or chapel he was associated with.

What denomination was the chapel where the child(ren) were baptised?

I was an Independent Chapel. If George became an  Independent Minister I would have expected to find him in the Surman Index.
