Also, found this baptism for a John Wm. Bridges in London:
St. George in the East, Stepney, London Baptisms - 1786 July
30 - John Wm s of John Bridges, Baker, by Ann, Choppings Court 21 days old at baptism
So far nothing further on this John Wm.
On the immigration record (1838) of Frederick and Harriet to Australia, Frederick states his father is James an Exciseman for the District of Caithness. I have done extensive research on the 'exciseman' entry for Frederick's father under James, John and Frederic(k) Bridges, including assistance from the Scottish Excise Office as well as England. Nothing comes up for any of the names, including Bridges. An additional immigration record states his father is John, no occupation given. A son of Frederick's noted that his father was a Mason and a visit to the Masonic Archives in Sydney, does reveal Frederick was a Mason with the forerunner of Manchester Unity a Benevolent Society still in existence today. Unfortunately the cemetery where he was buried in Sydney has been exhumed and remains found where transferred to other area cemeteries. Frederick's does not appear to be one of them.
This is just background information really. I'm confused about his father's name and would very much like to determine if I have found him in London. The birthdate given by the Vicar 19 May 1815, is the birthdate used on immigration and family records.
Again, thank you very much for your interest and help.
