US World War 1 Draft Cards (COMPLETED)
« on: Friday 09 June 17 13:25 BST (UK) »
I have been looking at a few of these World War 1 Draft Cards recently from Indiana and in the physical descriptions of the individuals recorded (only on some of the cards) there are statistics showing as :-

Height - Tall,  Medium, Short - with a tick or cross against that fitting the individual
Build -  Slender, Medium, Stout - with a tick or cross against that fitting the individual

Does anyone know what general measurements these classifications actually fall into ?

Thanks,
Robert

I found this - https://genealogy.stackexchange.com/questions/1755/instructions-for-world-war-i-draft-cards-us - which attempted to answer the same question, but it doesn't sound like the answer was easily found.

If any of the men in question lived until 1942, you might find their WWII draft registration cards which give a specific height and weight.  I guess they may have shrunk or gained/lost weight in the interim, but it might give you an idea of why they fit into that category.
