It would be 1673/74.

Might Jane's father have left a will?  And if so, did he helpfully die after her marriage and name her and her husband?

Nell

Hi Nell

Yes I think he might have left one. I have found a Will for a couple of the Reed family but not been able to obtain copies yet.

Hi Matt

The modern day calendar (Gregorian) didn't begin in Gt Britain until 1752,  before this the first day of the year was Ladyday ( 1st March).

So she was baptised 8 July 1673 - the following Feb would still be 1673 using the old style calender - the 1st March a few weeks later would be 1674.

Hope I haven't muddled the waters - here's a link, explain better than I can :)

Hiya

Thanks for confirming that. I thought that it was Feb 1673/74 but just wanted to double check. This certainly helps me out.

Thanks again

Matt
