Last line of a Will
« on: Wednesday 14 June 17 09:41 BST (UK) »
I have almost finished transcribing a will but am stuck on the last line. It seems to have some abbreviations which I do not recognise, I have as far as,

Betwene them. Item I give to Alice bonde  ?????????? ???  I give to ?? John  ??? ? ???? John

Also the last word on the line above seems to be a contraction for something help please.

Thanks  Steve

It's amounts of money
Item I give to Alice bonde xxxiij s iiijd. I give to Sir John ace vj s viij d Sir John Ace pres(en)t beinge witnes.

xxxiij s iiijd = 33 shillings and 4pence.
vj s viijd = 6 shillings and 8 pence

The last 'i' for 1, was always converted into a 'j'

The line above alice bonde says
...whome I will to have iiij l betwene them

iij l = 4 pounds

Item I give to Alice bonde 33s 4d I give to S(u)r? John Loe 6s 8d S(u)r? John Loe prest being witness.

The contraction in  the line above is also an amount.

Looking forward to replies about the S(u)r as not sure I've got it right!
