Italian father
« on: Thursday 15 June 17 18:04 BST (UK) »
Hi
I hope you can help. My father was born in Alexandria Egypt in the 1930s and he was an Italian. He had to leave during the Suez Canal crisis with his then italian wife who was able to take on UK citizenzhip. This meant he was always an Italian citizen as he didn't relinquish his passport. He stayed in the UK until he died in 1994. I'm trying to find his birth certificate and his passport.
His name was Salvatore Veste born 3rd November 1934. His father was Luigi Veste and his Mother was Lucrezia Veste. How do I go about finding, any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks you

I didn't expect that - Veste on www.geneanet.org has 1,293 results - predominately France
only 4 are in Italy - all in Messina ,Italy born between 1850 and 1900m - so Messina may be the family home before Egypt  :)

Hi

Welcome to Rootschat

I assume that you have his death registration? [ Sep 1994 (59y) Birkenhead E18B  0371E  166 ]
Gives his birth as 3 Nov 1934

As he married in the UK then the marriage certificate may  give his father.

Hi all
Yes I'm trying to find his birth certificate and potentially his passport.
Messina is really interesting as we were told the Vestes were from Brindisi in southern Italy so maybe some people settled there??
This is all really helpful. Thanks very much.
