« on: Sunday 31 July 05 00:41 BST (UK) »
Is it possible to get a marriage look up for a Richard Yorke,
who is described as being a yeoman  of "Orton Longville, Huntington"
His wife was Elizabeth or Ann or Both?
They had a daughter Anne before 1740
Richard died abt 1740

Regards

Hi Carole

Hunts Marriage Index has the following marriages
1705/6 Richard York m Sarah Reeve at Stanground (Stanground is only a couple of miles from Orton Longville)
1717 Richard York m Elizabeth Haines widow at Toseland

NBI has
Richard York buried 2 Aug 1742 at Stanground
Sarah York buried 30 Nov 1727 at Stanground

Toseland is at the opposite end of the county to Stanground/Orton Longville, so may be a red herring.

Where was the reference to Richard of Orton Longville?

Regards

David

Hi David,
Thank you for the info.
I have the will of Rich. York and was trying to
see if he fits in with the other Yorks I am following.
He mentions wife Anne in his codicil.
Daughter Dorothy wife of Wm. Rapport? in Northants.
He starts the will .. do this on the 19th day of May in 1742"
and mentions his cousins William? Peat of Bourn in the county
of Cheshire.and William Smith in Peterborough in Nothants to be
guardians for Anne, his daughter. He also mentions his nephew
Richard Yorke
The will was proved the 23 of Dec 1742
He states he is of Bottle Bridge near to Orton Longville.
I am still not sure if he fits in with my York research, but thank you
for all the information you have provided.
Regards,
Carole
