Hi Karen,
I think the place name is Milnburn or Millburn on the death cert. If you check out the link on Kirkcudbright people and places it is recorded as Milnburn.

And I think the same place 'Millburn' appears four lines up. Millburn Street in Kirkcudbright probably takes its name from Kirkcudbright Old Mill nearby - see http://scotlandsplaces.gov.uk/record/hes/95222/kirkcudbright-millburn-street-kirkcudbright-old-mill/rcahms?item=682188

Added: Though an 18th century book on witchcraft calls the place Milnburn.
