Thank you Sue,

Very interesting, as Margaret Genge Hines was my aunty, now long deceased, and the fact that she was divorced was a subject in the family which was banned for discussion.

Thank you Muss however this is not my Eric.

Majm,
I fully realise what you have said which I appreciate. However as he was born in x (x years ago) I doubt if he is now alive. He vanished from the family some 70 years ago never to be heard of by me again. Thank you for your help.
John...Sydney

Hi there,     there's about four thousand living Australians aged over 100 years, and likely tens of thousands aged ninety or more.   Just like you and me and all of us living in Australia we are each entitled to the expectation of privacy of the individual.     One of the many positive features about RChat is that threads are easily found via google searching.    I am sorry that you have not heard of your cousin for some 70 years.    I have used the Report to Moderator button to ask for a volunteer Moderator to remove your cousin's name from the thread, as you have not confirmed that he is no longer living.

Here's the "How To" thread that may help you to advance your quest :

Thank you Muss however this is not my ******.

So could you kindly let us know please.
Is the man or is it not?
Your replies at the moment are somewhat self-contradictory.
Do you believe the death I have located and directed you to (above) is the cousin you are seeking?
Do you believe the other records offered are the cousin you are seeking?

http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/page/1162885  This lists the given names for the siblings of the chap who was aged 22 when he died in 1931, so born 1909.

http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/16781799 This is the funeral notice for the chap noted above, a Naval funeral.

It does not seem to me that this chap is the one our OP is seeking as there's a huge age difference, and the NSW BDM index shows different given names for the deceased's parents.

 ;)

The chap I have made mention of died in Qld in 1989.

This has not been confirmed or otherwise by Vabre as a possibility.
