The name on the  Lunacy Patient Admission is Thos T Thexton and he was discharged 4/3/1893 your Thomas married in January 1893 so I don't believe they are the same person.
The Thomas in HMP Wakefield his occupation is a Labourer and your Thomas occupation in 1911 is an Engine Driver so that is doubtful as well, but I'm not to sure about that one.

The prison record gives his name as Thos Rowland Thexton, I can only find one with that full name, so I think it could be the same one - even though his occupation is given as labourer.

Newspapers might report the case and give more detail
Berks / Oxon: Eltham, Annetts, Wiltshire (surname not county), Hawkins, Pembroke, Partridge
Dorset / Hants: Derham, Stride, Purkiss, Sibley
Yorkshire: Pottage, Carr, Blackburn, Depledge
Sussex: Goodyer, Christopher, Trevatt
Lanark: Scott (soldier went to Jersey CI)
Jersey: Fowler, Huelin, Scott

Hi,

I found this Thomas on a crew list,

Liverpool Crew Lists 1861-1919

Ship Name:  Cephalonia

Thos R THEXTON
Year of Birth:  /71
Town or County of Birth:  Sheffield
Ship in which he last served and year of discharge therefrom:  /90  Calypso
Date and place of signing this agreement:  /90 11th July  Boston
In what capacity engaged:  Waiter
Amount of wages:  /
Left Ship:  discharged Liverpool 22nd July 1890

I know Thomas Rowland THEXTON was born in Derbyshire but his family lived in Sheffield so maybe he was just asked "Where are you from?". and he was back in Sheffield in 1891.

The four waiters on the page are the only ones who have a line in the wage column, I wonder if they were just working their passage home?

Regards,
Daisy

Thanks. I think this is him. His Wife's brother John Thomas Lilley and wife and daughter in 1903 emigrated to New York then Ontario I think. Not sure if that is connected? If he visited them?

Hello MaryTM,

I think that we share the same Great Grandfather in Thomas Rowland Thexton b. Apr/May/Jun 1871 in Chesterfield who was a Clerk/Stationary Engine Driver.

My Grandad was Rowland Wynne Thexton b. 26 Nov 1911

My Dad was Alan Wynne Thexton b. 4 Aug 1938

Hopefully we can share our resources

Kind Regard

Neil

Records are simply records they are not "nice records" or "not so nice records" to think of records that way shows judgement and discrimination in your mind.
When we look at history we are only looking through a tiny keyhole without knowing the full picture, it is important that we do not add bias and judgement based on so minuscule snippets of information we may glean; we must also never forget that records reflect the views and values of the people in power at that time and may not reflect the full truth of any situation.

Cheers
Guy

Thanks Guy,
I suppose because I am more interested in the Social history side of the Trees I am trying to look at the documents in a personal way.
Reading too much into them...
