« on: Wednesday 28 June 17 04:59 BST (UK) »
Looking for records of Lemuel or Samuel married Widower married Oratia Rumbold in 15/10/1826
That was his second wife.  His first wife was Maryanne Brown but cannot find any records of his marriage.  Not sure where else to look.  If St Mary's was destroyed in W2 would there be anywhere else the records are held????   ??? ???

Welcome to Rootschat.   :)

For others seeking to help:

Lemuel Bellord married Horatia Rumbold 30 September 1833 at St. John the Evangelist, Lambeth.

The same named couple appear in records for 15 October 1826 at St. Mary at Lambeth.

I can see banns were called on 15 Oct 1826 but no date of marriage is endorsed for the couple (other couples have their date of marriage written in at the end of the line).

It looks as though they didn't go ahead with the marriage in 1826, for whatever reason, and eventually got round to marrying in 1833.

There's a Lemuel Bellord in the Yarmouth poll book for 1796: a mariner.

Thank u this is great info for me.  I need to fill you in more.  Lemuel and Marianne Brown had two daughters.  Elizabeth Bellord b 1815 and Olivia Elizabeth Bellord b 1819 and I think that Lemuel John Bellord was their brother b 1822.  The reason for knowing the parents name was because it was on Olivia Elizabeth's marriage in Tasmania to William Sidebottom.  The two girls came out to Tasmania as potential brides in 1833 from Gravesend.  Olivia being my 4th grandmother.
Lemuel, his son Lemuel and grandson all died in the Cholera Epidemic (havent seen death certificate so not sure)  I have not found birth certificates for the girls so a lot is just trying to put two and two together. I am not sure why there would be 2 different marriages for Lemuel in 1826 and in 1833 either they are two different men or he married the sister of Oratia????? very mysterious.  I really appreciate your help as I have hit a brick wall.

Have a look back at my earlier reply (#4) about the marriage point.  There are not two marriages for Lemuel and Oratia/Horatia; the 1826 entry is banns (these are announcements preliminary to marriage) and only in 1833 was there an actual marriage for the couple.
