Parish registers LLangollen . Birth and baptism of Maria LEE
« on: Wednesday 28 June 17 12:10 BST (UK) »
Hello,
Maria LEE, born in LLangollen in 1809 (when exactly ?) , a Maria LEE was  baptized 06 May 1810 in Llangollen (which church?), I suppose they are the same person. She married William JACKSON 31 December 1832 in Manchester Parish Church , they lived later in Middleton.

Could someone help me find birthdate, parents names  ?

Thank you in advance.

A Thomas  Lee married Eleanor Kenrick in Llangollen  on 28 April 1809.

The Church was St Collen - I was confirmed there  :)

Added - interesting that the birth date is entered as exactly a year after the marriage. I've checked the image of the entry and it is definitely 28th April in each case - 1809 and 1810  :-\

As Maria was married in Manchester, this does look like her parents and siblings:

 1851 Census

9 Dark Lane, Ardwick, Manchester

Thomas Lee, 70, power loom weaver, b. Llangollen
Ellen, wife, 59, midwife, b. -do-
Amelia, d. 37, power loom weaver, b. -do-
John, s, 30, -do-, b. Manchester
Margaret, d, 18, -do-, b. -do-
Sarah Fegg, lodge, 20. -do-, b, -do-

Power loom weaver = cotton

Added - I note that one of Maria's daughters was named Amelia  :)

Fantastic ! Thank you very much. I wondered if Maria came alone in Lancashire or if all the family came.

Pardon my ignorance (as I said in the Lancashire thread you found : I am not English) : does -do- mean "the same "  John was also a power loom weaver, Margaret was born in Manchester?

May I also ask : St Collen was an Anglican church?

birth of a child on the exact day of the marriage : could be a family mark (I'm joking) , my first child was born on the same day 8 years later.

Yes, you're correct - do means ditto or the same.

St Collen's is an Anglican church  :)

I'll see if I can find anything more about Eleanor's parents and also chase up Thomas - born about 1780.

I have found a marriage between a John Kenrick and a Dorothy Edwards on 2 November 1789. You're lucky as it has full details of their parents.

John Kenrick of this parish, widower, son of James Kenrick, Turner, by Eleanor his wife, aged 43 and Dorothy Edwards of this parish, widow, daughter of Richard Morris, weaver, by Eleanor his wife, aged 33.

The records are unclear as to the parish* but the vicar (on same and a previous page) was an Edward Jones,  who was vicar of Llangollen 1771-1797)

* will do some checks on my other sources  :)
