Hello all,

I am trying to locate the 1881 census for the following.

Thomas Cook or Crook (most likely the head)
Elizabeth Cook or Crook (wife)
Emma Richardson (dau)
Salford

What I know.
Elizabeth and Emma are with Joseph Richardson in the 1871 census.
Joseph died in 1875 and Elizabeth remarried in 1876 to Thomas (Cook?).  Thomas's name has been transcribed as LOOK on the marriage certificate. But appears to me as Cook
The 1891 census shows all three together and Thomas and Elizabeth are shown as CROOK with Emma Richardson the daughter.  They live at Silk St Salford.

By the 1911 census Emma has married and I have yet to locate Thomas or Elizabeth in 1911.

Your help in find them would be appreciated.

Regards Bonnie

For 1881 have a look at 104 Silk St Salford

Piece 3961
Folio  108
Page 28

Thomas Crook 55 M bleacher Astley Bridge  (same as 1891)
Elizth Crook    56 M
Emma Crook   19 S   Broughton (same as 1871)
Martha Crook  19 S

Emma is indexed as Anna and it looks like it on the page, but the first letter has been written over a few times

Snap! I was just going to suggest the same reference.  ;D Especially as Martha also appears in 1861.

Thankyou Mirl and Maddy, that was fast!!

I wasn't expecting a reply just yet.  Being in Aus I usually come back the next day but getting an answer so quick is a bonus.

I have never searched a census by address so this is something to learn for me. looks like it could be handy when names are different!

I assume I can search in Ancestry?

Many thanks again ....Bonnie :) :)

There is a Thomas Crook death registered Salford June Quarter 1891 age 68
(also an Elizabeth Crook same quarter age 65?).

The age for Thomas is correct, 67 when the census was taken, Elizabeth was recorded as age 68

1905 an Elizabeth Crook age 81 is also a possibility.

The 1891 registration for Thomas is correct as he left a will (probate index) proved Manchester 23 July 1891 states he died 10 May 1891 at 104 Silk Road Salford, executrix wife Elizabeth.

It also rules out the June quarter death record and she was handling the probate of his will in July.
