Llanegwad parish records
« on: Tuesday 04 July 17 13:13 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am trying to trace a David Thomas Evans allegedly born in Llanegwad 29 April 1876. I know from his marriage in 1901 in Pontypridd that his father was Robert Evans a deceased farmer. No luck on find my past, ancestry, the genealogist etc with the full name  Too many just David Evans. The 1901 census says he was born in Llandysul, Cardiganshire but the 1911 census that he completed himself says the parish of Llanegwad. I have sent for the parish records for Llandysul for births, marriages and deaths and neither he nor Robert are there. So I assume that the Llanegwad one must be correct. Carmarthen record office is closed so unless I go to Aberystwyth National Library I am stuck. Any ideas please ? I have found a baptism of a David Evans at Llandeilo Fawr on 6 May 1874, son of Robert and Catharine, which is the only one possible at present. It maybe that the family misrecorded the year of his birth and it was 1874 not 1876. However I don't have an address or Robert's occupation or which church. Any help please. Thank you.

Welcome to Rootschat!

The details on the 1901 census would have been supplied by someone in the household and there's only him and wife Mary Ann. His age was given as 26 in the 1901 census, so if the date of birth is correct, he would have been born in 1874.

The baptism from Llandeilo Fawr looks unlikely as that Robert is noted as a carpenter, not a farmer.

The "alleged" birthdate was a date given to me on a piece of paper by a family member, but no documentation to back it up.
