A whole unfindable tree (shrub?) of Newsons!
« on: Wednesday 05 July 17 16:02 BST (UK) »
In my tree I have a marriage between Ann Porter and Robert Womack; they had several children.
Robert then died, and Ann remarried, to one Thomas Newson.

I have found Thomas Newson's will, written in 26 Apr 1802, proved in 27 nov 1802 in the Norfolk Sources.

In it, he lists:

* Samuel Newson of Roydon, Farmer (no relationship stated)
* Two children, Thomas and William of his late brother William.
* Four Children (James, Mary, Thomas and "blank") of his brother James, a Weaver of North Lopham.

Clearly, with such a richly documented tree, I should have enough of a pattern to readily
find and recognise other documents.  :)

Nope.  ???

I have found Samuel Newson of Roydon; he shows nicely in a search of FreeReg;
He marries Mary Milton, 1789, has some children (Milton, Robert, Susan, Benjamin, Mary, Emma), and dies in 1806, aged 44 (so DOB around 1762).

I have not found any birth records for the 3 siblings Thomas, William and James, I have not found marriage records for William and James, and I have found none of William's and James' 6 children.
I haven't even found a burial for Thomas.

Can anyone do better?

I think I've found the deceased William, father of William and Thomas.

He was married in Melton Constable (!!!!) to a Susanna Newell, 1796, and they
moved back to Roydon, Diss.

Children:
William bap sep1797, bur dec1797
Thomas bap1798
William bap1800
Mary Anne bap1801 (not mentioned in will, poor lass).

William, the father, died 1802, buried in Roydon, aged 31 (->DOB 1771)

Courtesy of the BritishNewspaperArchive, I've found this truly fascinating piece of information:

The Ipswich Journal - Saturday 10 April 1802

"And also his son" No details at all.  ???

Ah - that's a perfect fit with Mary Anne (or Marianne) being omitted from the will.

And it's in Norfolk Sources. I'll download it tomorrow.

There are a number of burials which look to be of this family in Roydon and Diss.

Also, who's this William? Could he be related?
