I thought the original looked like Pekham (though perhaps more probably Pelham).Given the father's name as William and his nearest sibling as Charles,I thought there might be some family traditional naming pattern, but obviously highly tenuous!

An alternative family for Henry:-

1841 HO107/1049/5/30/13
(with grandparents Henry and Catherine)
1841 HO107/1061/8/49/17
(his father Henry,a constable at the Surrey Theatre).

1851 HO107/1565/421/6
Three generations together.Henry given as born 1840,Christchurch,Surrey
I think this would make him Henry James Peckham June qtr 1840 St.Saviour vol 4 page 438

1861 RG09/334/92/39
Henry's(1840) father and grandmother together.

No mother for Henry(1840) appears in any of these censuses.GRO info would give her maiden name as Kean.

Roger

There is a record for the death of an Ellen Peckham, aged 35 in Lambeth in 1882(born c. 1847 therefore).Perhaps Elizabeth was aka Ellen, like her daughter.I can't find an Ellen Peckham of that age in the locality in 1881,which perhaps adds weight to the possibility.

Roger thanks for all the time spent on this. I have spent numerous hours pondering this.

The first theory you had had weight; i.e. Pelham, simply because the inability to trace any of the three children under the Peckham name. I have come across many incorrect spellings of single siblings but never been unable to trace all three and both parents. Something doesn't add up. Particularly as I can tie it all down to Lambeth.

Thanks again,

Del

Is he at HO 107/1572/797/4 in 1851?

Regards
Roger

Not totally sure, as in 1861 seem to be the transcribed POTHAM family
RG09/58/43/26
Keyboard86

This 1861shows on original as more like Polham/Pelham, next door is an Edward 28 occ Bootmaker with wife Bessy 37 and daughter Lizzie 7
Can someone check if 1841/51/61 is same family?

Not sure I can make anything more of it at the moment, but there is a birth record for Henry Peckham Keen in Lambeth in March 1870.Although the mmn is different there is also an Eleanor Eliza Keen in 1872.
Equally can't make a connection with the Henry Peckham(1840)mmn Kean in my alternative family of earlier today.

Coincidence?

Roger

The "coincidences" are beginning to mount:-
There is a marriage in 1869 in Lambeth for  Henry James Peckham Keen(father Henry Peckham) to Emma Eliza Cox.
Cox is the mmn for Eleanor Eliza Keen as referred to previously.
