Lads - thanks for that, in 2 mins flat. Not sure why I am so thick I didnt find John but Mary spelling of surname certainly not one I thought off. As a matter of interest, how did you search the website to find that surname?

I've also a michael Corcoran (corkin), mother Maggie Jane I'm looking for in 1915 or so also in Bailieboro.

Sorry thats 1912 not 1915

Just look for   Michael    Born 1912 to 1912      and       District

...then just scroll though them until you see one with the Surname!!
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

Hi, I looked in the Irish birth index on findmypast
https://search.findmypast.co.uk/search-world-Records/irish-births-1864-1958

Couldn't see John on irishgenealogy, so found someone else born in Dec qtr 1897, Bailieboro, and worked through the images. Did they miss him?
John

Sorry, trying to understand this. So I get the jist of what you are saying, find someone at the end of 1897. Get into the images and scroll back through the records like you are reading a book. My question is where can you do this? On irish genealogy when you click on "image" on a record it only give you a pdf of 1 page. I'd be really interested to access the records as you describe. Thanks in advance.

Hi, Shane gives an explanation of doing it here

Works for the BMD registers. You may possibly find some gaps in the numbers that work.

It missed those images where there are more than one set on the one link but other wise is great.
