Hello from New Zealand

On my mother's family tree (Reid), we have my great-great-great grandfather, John Reid of Keiss (baptised there, 1733) marrying Margaret Miller (bap. 1722)of Wick.  They were married in 1765 at Keiss/Neibster and had a son called Alexander Reid (born around 1768) who married the daughter of John Sinclair of Stain, Keiss in 1799.  She was Jane (possibly Jean) Sinclair.  Margaret's son, Alexander died 1937 in Pulteneytown.

[My first time here as well!

My great-grandfather was John Miller of Wick. He married Alexina (have all birth certificates and death certificates). John Miller was killed just after the 1st World War - their fishing boat hit a mine - somewhere in the North Sea. Most of the elders were killed.

John and Alexina's children: Alexander (my grandfather - immigrated to South Africa); Alexina (Scotland); Margaret (Canada); Peter (Canada), Elizabeth (Canada).

My grandfather married Gladys Lillian Vickers - their children:
Ian William (deceased); Brian Alexander (my father - deceased 2000) and * (living in *).

*

You are more than welcome to contact me on my email address: (*). As mentioned, I have the birth certificates; death certificates and marriage certificates of both John Miller and Alexina, as well as other family members.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Sandy

Sandra, it's lovely when long-lost branches of a family are re-united here but you will need to use PM (Personal Mrssage) to exchange details of other living relatives, email addresses. telephone numbers, etc. since Rootschat does not allow posting of such details on the boards.

Please read the Posting Guidelines in the Help pages and abide by the rules.

HI - just joined this site.  I have just started my Family Tree re Miller.
James Miller and Mary Miller nee Mowat were my ggg grandparents.  They had a son called Alexander Miller born c 1836 and he married Janet Miller nee Mackay on 28th December 1859 in Wick. They probably had more children but cant trace.  Alexander and Mary had a son Alexander Miller born c 1859 and he married Johan (Joan) Miller nee MacKay  on 11th June 1880 in Wick.. They had a son Alexander McKay Miller born 1886 and he married Elizabeth McGregor Miller nee Hewitt in Perth on 5th September 1906. Alexander McKay Miller and Elizabeth were my mother's parents.

Do you think there is a connection here.

Would like to hear from you

Dorothy
