Hi Ian:

Here are links for Emma Gustava Svensdotter, oäkta, born 24 Sept 1866 in Ölme:

https://app.arkivdigital.se/production/index.html?aid=v9016.b53&page=main/index

Another birth reference...and I see Sven Gustava Petersson.  Is he the father?

https://app.arkivdigital.se/production/index.html?aid=v9017.b50&page=main/index

1861-1865 what I believe are Emma's parents (unmarried):  Sven Gustav Petersson and Britta Johansdotter (Jonasdotter)

https://app.arkivdigital.se/production/index.html?aid=v8985.b194.s188&page=main/index

1866- Britta's father (a widower) and her sisters, her daughter Emma, and who I think is Emma's father Sven just below:

https://app.arkivdigital.se/production/index.html?aid=v8986.b248.s243&page=main/index

1871 Britta (mother) marries Karl Fredrik Stolt and Emma is with them

https://app.arkivdigital.se/production/index.html?aid=v8986.b355.s350&page=main/index

1876 Emma with her mom, step-dad and step-brothers

https://app.arkivdigital.se/production/index.html?aid=v8989.b81.s421&page=main/index

1881 Emma at the bottom

https://app.arkivdigital.se/production/index.html?aid=v8991.b132.s477&page=main/index

1885 Emma moves to Hedvig Eleonora Stockholm

https://app.arkivdigital.se/production/index.html?aid=v9001.b125&page=main/index

I believe she moved to Jakob Stockholm around 3 May 1886 but then went back to Hedvig Eleonora on or around 30 May 1888 and then left for America on 18 July 1889 (I think).  She may have left Gothenburg on a ship around 26 Jul 1889 to Hull, England and then to New York.

When you have time, can you check to see if I made any mistakes?  Also, there is some writing on some records that I think is important but cannot read.  Lastly, if you can find her actual movements in Stockholm from 1885 until 1889, that would be great.  I found some references on the ancestry website, but I can't find them on the arkivdigital website.

No rush...just when you have time.  She is my 2nd great grandmother.

Thanks,  Paul

Hi
Yes Sven Gustaf Peterson is the father. The records you have found seem to be correct.
Here is a link to the Stockholm household records:
http://digitalastadsarkivet.stockholm.se/Rotemannen2012/Search.aspx

There is an English button. If you write in her birthdate 18660924 and her name as "Svens" "Emma" you will get 4 hits with 2 different spellings for her surname. You can view a couple of the original records to the left and you will see when she left for USA on the right and her movements in Stockholm.
This page can be a bit unpredictable sometimes, so be patient.

This looks like her emigration record from Gothenburg to Hull. The ship was called "Romeo":

Also, there is some writing on some records that I think is important but cannot read.

Both birth records and the text all state that Sven Gustaf Peterson is the father.

Ian:

Awesome! Thank you for confirming this information and also providing me with new information.

I did have the ship as the Romeo but I wasn't sure I had the right Emma.  Since you also found the same information and came to the same conclusion, I know we have the correct person.

I will take a look at all of the information in detail and also the links to her movements in Stockholm. It was surprising to me that she went there because I can't find any other relative who did.

Thanks again!

Paul

The link you sent to the Stockholm records is great!  It worked just like you said.

Can I find this ledger from Hedvig Eleonora online?  I wanted to see some pages but cannot figure out how to locate it.  This was from 1889, the year Emma left for America.

Hi Paul,
These records are not available online or elsewhere as far as I know.

Here is her moving out record:

Hi
Noticed that one of the records from Stockholm stated that she worked at Humlegården:

Great!  I remember finding one of her records a couple months ago and I could not read the word of where she lived or worked. Now I know thanks to you!  I was guessing it was some kind of park but again without being able to decipher the word, I wasn't sure.

Thanks so much for all of your help. You have saved me a ton of time and also helped me with the accuracy of my research.

I have one more line of Swedish relatives that I may ask you about. I have found some of their records. I will send you some links soon and see if you can help me fill in the gaps.
