Boer war Records 1899-1902
« on: Tuesday 25 July 17 19:13 BST (UK) »
Plaque in local Church lists local men who were killed in the Boer War. Only surname and initial given.  Hoping to research their lives and need full names to do that.
Checked local newspapers but can find no names of casualties.
Are there any other LOCAL sources I could search - Parish Registers, Church minute books, Cemetery Records, Pension providers.
(Searched National Service Records but without full name difficult to identify the right one)
Thanks

Hi,
Try your local museums. I found one that had a book on the local regiment (led by the local landowner) and which, amongst other things, contained various lists of names. the museum (Welshpool) also had an identical snuff box to that passed down the family to me albeit with a different name engraved for a different musketry competition during training.
