I'm inclined to think that Sidney is the son of Eliza. The age on the 1891 fits. Elizabeth Gell is a witness at his marriage to Ada 12 October 1890, at the same church as that of Eliza's daughter. No father is listed in the marriage details for Sidney.

So is this our Elizabeth Emily/Emily Elizabeth Gell? No mother's maiden name given.

Births Mar 1874
Phillips    Elizabeth Emily
Droxford    2c   115

Looks as if the Gells didn't marry, but she took his name.

If this is the case, it could be that John Gell wasn't Sydney's father and that is why he reverted to Phillips when he was older, but was Elizabeth's father, so she kept the name.

Going back to David Wade
However, David Wade is a problem himself.
There is no birth entry for a David or William David Wade born in Ipswich between 1861 and 1871, nor is there a marriage for his father Alfred William Wade???
Strange...perhaps he was registered as just William? Unless this is the start of the family 'tradition' of not registering  ???

Useing the GRO on the Wade children with help from the 1911 census for year of births i found the maiden name for the mother as Gell for Frank Wade and Elizabeth Wade and Gill for James Wade and Edith Emma Wade.Unfortunately i found nothing for William 1891 and David 1901.Edith Emma Wade was my grandmother who died in 1952 and i think there were relatives called Gill but i'm not 100% sure .Thanks for your help everyone i'll check out all the information you kindly supplied.
