.....and that couple can be identified in both the 1901 and 1911 censuses. This is  RSC(junior) of course. It is RSC(senior) who marries Mercy in 1902.The earlier Kensington marriage seems to be a different Robert Campbell(again identifiable).

Roger

Harriet
Robert Shaw
Ellen
Henry J
William Alexander

Possibly with Mercy..
Alice
Fanny

I have been assuming all along that the middle name of SHAW is taken from his mother!!!??

Can you identify any of the above names with each wife's parents names to possibly eliminate them (unless they shared a name) e.g. both fathers named Robert?

So the MC needed for father's name & occ. as well as RSC's age is...

"Martha Rebecca Slade married a Robert Shaw Campbell on 27th April 1879 in St.Pancras"

For father's name/occupation it just says "Dead".  Unhelpful, or what?  >:(

STG

Edited to add : Other certificates showing on the same image show similarly unhelpful entries.  Maybe the vicar/whoever wasn't big on paperwork.

 ;D  ::) I would say that's possibly an indication of illegitimacy  :-\

STG..

Just read your edit so not much of a clue after all  ::)

Despair..

Does this mean that the children named are a different family & not the OP's  ???

Harriet
Robert Shaw

No.I was just trying to distinguish the RSC marriages.
RSC(jun),once to Sophia Charles.
RSC (sen),originally to Martha(1879),who dies 1893.
then  ?? to Nelly(?),who appears in the 1901 census
Nelly dies??
then to Mercy in 1902.

My Gt.Gt Grandmother Martha Rebecca Slade married a Robert Shaw Campbell on 27th April 1879 in St.Pancras.

1881 census has Robert Campbell was born in Ireland in 1857 and was a shoemaker in the Scots Guards.
1891 census has Robert Campbell with Birth place Ireland and a shoemaker.
1901 census shows a Robert Campbell born in Ireland and a House Painter.
In 1902 his daughter Ellen marries and father's name is given as Robert Shaw Campbell, painter.
1911 census for that address I find him but his birth place is given as Govan, Scotland!!! NOT IRELAND. He is a general labourer.

Is it just me...3 different occupations....are they definitely the same Robert  ???

Such a pity there's no 'Shaw' on any census'

I don't think the Campbell/Jack marriage in 1898 relates to your Robert and Nelly. This Robert and Ellen(Hellen) can be found in the census in both 1901 ( Tavistock Crescent, Paddington) and 1911 (Lancaster Road, North Kensington). They had three children - Clara 1899, Robert Thomas 1901 and William 1910 all can be found on Gro with mmn Jack. This Robert was born in Scotland ( 1911 says Kilmarnock).

Can you confirm the occ. please of Robert from 1898 marriage to Jack from census' to eliminate him so we know which one from my Reply #24.

Why do they have middle names but don't use them  :-\
