I want to send off for my grand ads ww2 records from the MOD but we don't have his army number. Does anyone know how I could obtain the number? Is it possible?

You don't need his Service Number!
If you have his date of birth, and (usually) the Death Certificate, that's usually enough
(On the form is does say . . . and/or . . .)
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)
