James Campbell
« on: Thursday 03 August 17 13:27 BST (UK) »

I am trying to find any information on a James Campbell, Manchester. The only information I have is he married Isabella IRVING in the parish of Dalton, Dumfriesshire 2 January 1852.

Isabella's parents were John IRVING & Isabella IRVING (Carlyle)

Have looked on Scotlands People for births and deaths but with no luck and wondered if they moved to Manchester.

I had a look on the 1861 census:

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M7P4-45Y

Not sure if you meant James was born in Manchester.

CAMPBELL, JANE  ANN mmn IRVING

Is it possible to tell us what it says on the marriage regarding the parish for both please?

What info. do you have from births/baptisms of children for his occ?

I had a look on SP for possible baptisms pre 1855 but no luck (possibly haven't survived)?

Can you tell us where/when Isabella was born please as this can help in locating her on census'?

Do you have deaths for either (Ooops! Speed reading not good) & what makes you think they moved to Manchester?

The more info. you can provide the easier for researchers to help?

I couldn't find a 0 - 2 yr old Margaret (born Carlisle, Cumberland) on 1861 Scottish/English census' & wonder could she have died pre census?

No luck with Jane Ann in 1871 either so far  ???

I am afraid I have very little information on the Irving family. Haven’t been able to find any of John IRVING & Isabella’s children births on Scotlands People. So, I do not know where she was born – from the 1841/1851 census’s  the family lived at Dalton, Dumfriesshire.

Was by chance I found Isabella’s marriage on SP. I do not have either of their deaths. As I haven’t been able to find them on SP I thought perhaps they may moved to Manchester.

The marriage details are:  James Campbell, Manchester and Isabella Irving in the Parish of Dalton and married on 2nd. January 1852.
