William George Murray
« on: Friday 04 August 17 14:18 BST (UK) »
Need some advice on this family

Parents. William and Emily Murray (maiden name Richards)

Both born and married in Bristol. Ayear after their marriage for some reason they moved to Burton upon Trent where their first 2 children were born

Ellen Emily 1874-1874
William George born 1875

They then moved back to Bristol and had a further 6 children

Albert Edward 1876-1944
Lillian 1879-1911
William George 1881
Frederick 1883-1883
Grace 1885
Ernest 1888

The problem is with the 2 Williams

William George born 1875 can find no death for, but
William born 1881 on the GRO BMD's site looks like William died in 1881.
"Murray,William George  0  GRO Reference 1881 S Quarter in Barton Regis Vol 06A Page 70"

Sadly the first William must of passed away before 1881 maybe some one can find a entry somewhere.

Any help will be appreciated.

What children are actually given on the 1881 census?

So, if William George (born 1875) was in the 1881 census which was taken on 3rd/4th April, and William George (number 2) was born September quarter 1881 (so between July and September) that only gives a window of a maximum of 5 months for a death. But I can't see one!  ???

William born 1875 seems to be with the family in the 1891, aged 16

The older William is still alive aged 16, with the family, in 1891 (they are "Murry" but indexed as "Marry" in at least one place). RG12/1981/129/37.

In that case is it 100% certain that the one who was born and died in 1881 was from the same family or is there another Murray/Richards marriage?

The family in 1891 also have a Lilian aged 11, not found the birth yet but it may not leave much room for Williams birth only a year later
