His certificate should tell you whether or not Sarah was still alive at the time of his death.

Really?

Hopefully as it could state widower, or if she was the one who registered the death she'd obviously still be alive! I probably should have said could, or might.

I think M.P.S. was "Member of the Pharmaceutical Society".

"Up to 1988 the initials used for membership were MPS."

I think this might be the above Herbert BARRATT,

1901 RG13/3272  f.21  p.17    Bamford, Derbyshire
Station Road

BARRATT
Herbert        Head    S    34    Chemist                      Yorks Snaith
Annie R      Sister    S    32                                          "     Snaith
Gilbert     Brother    S    26    Draper's Assistant          "        "
Edith WILSON  Serv  S    24    General Servant Domestic    Derby Castleton

I can see on the free index that he is living in Bingley, Keighley, Yorkshire in 1911.

Can someone give me a clue about the 1911 census and 1939 register I can't seem to find them.

Regards,
Daisy

I think this latest information by Daisypetal shows the death I found isn't the correct Herbert Barratt, but it was the only one in 1953 according to Freebmd.

In 1891, the Herbert Barratt born Farnsfield was a coal miner.

Quote
I want to know where Herbert who died in 1953 and Sarah are buried/cremated and when Sarah died and where......

So that means that the Herbert who died in 1953 isn't Libralady's ancestor.   What do others think?

Can't put information from 1911, but I've found Sarah and she's with her son, so Herbert may have died between 1901 and 1911, although I can't see a death.

Have not been able to log in for some reason, seemed to have been blocked all weekend ......Just cannot seem to be able to log into these freebmd and Registers.......Herbert was born in 1866, at Farnsfield - Sarah was born in 1883 at Swanwick they married in 1886, thinks Alfreton......
They had 8 children plus 2 stillborn......Lucy, Ada, William, Marina, Annie, Eliza, Henry, Alfred, between 1888 and 1900.......Cannot seem to find where and when they died......need to complete my family tree...

Thanks Daisypetal, but he was the wrong Herbert, my great grandfather was a coal miner, born 1866 at Farnsfield,  I cannot remember him being mentioned as being in Sheffield for any reason, he lived in Farnsfield, South Normanton and Pinxton, could have been him though, ........Thanks Groom , I think she is the right Sarah, although she was born as a twin in 1863.... I think I heard she spent her last days in the Highbury Hospital which is in Basford Nottingham.......I know Herbert was alive in the late 1930's as we have a photo of my first cousin (his first great grand daughter) on his knee, she looks about 3/4yrs old and was born in 1936/7..... It is possible that they could have split up, just wish I knew someone who knew......Thanks everyone for all your help.....

I don't think he died in 1953 - the only one anywhere seems to be the one who died in Sheffield and who was a chemist. Have a look at the link to the 1911 I gave you, he's not with Sarah then.

Not him groom as I have this photo taken of him in the late 1930's, but I do not think he was alive in 1953 either.......this is proving very difficult.....Thanks - libralady....
