Great find, Cosmac, although rather a sad one.

I see Halsted served in 1910 in the 12th Regiment, York Rangers (Voluntary Militia), and in 1913, tried to cross the US border to visit a friend, Susie Bond, giving a reference of a sister, Mary Toovey, in Toronto. The border card indicated he had a speech impediment, and on the reverse of the card, it states he was rejected (it looks like "alcoholism" as a reason....it's a bit hard to read).

From Cosmac's find, we know where he was until 1919, and he seems to vanish from that point.

Thanks for your replies.
That is about where I am with my research as well. All entries are correct for him.
I have found a H Toovey (Labourer) who lived at 8 Sackville Street Rosedale Ontario in 1949.
Not sure if it is Halsted Toovey.
I do have a photo of him and his sister taken around 1940's or 1950's in Windsor.

I have been trying to track the sister Mary around, hoping to bump into Halsted.  I kept seeing a Mary Eleanor Toovey who resides in Toronto taking trips to England to address 48 Salford Rd, Streatham.  This address matches a few articles (British) on a Mary Eleanor Toovey, one with an unnamed brother who was a photographer.
Let me know if you are interested in me sending them.

Also, a birth and death of two of Halsted's siblings:
Illustrated London News 23 Aug 1862
Births
On June 20, at Rosekandy, Cachar, Bengal, the wife of Charles Gibbs Toovey, of a son.

Exeter and Plymouth Gazette 15 Dec 1871
Deaths
Nov 30, at Southmolton, Henry Linwood, infant son of Charles Gibbs Toovey.

Thank bbart
I too followed his sisters Mary's path in Canada. It took me a long time to find a death for her in Canada. From memory it was around 1952.
Halsted was a photographer at the time he came to Canada in the early 1900's
I know he stayed in Canada, but don't have anything after around 1923.
A photo I have taken with his sister Mary at Windsor was most likely taken in the 1940's .
Charles Gibbs Toovey is my G Grandfather.
No need to send that info.
I am really only looking for a death date for Halsted and a place.
Thanks for your efforts, appreciated.

Will probated Lewes 10 August for Mary Eleanor Toovey of 1250 Pierre Avenue Windsor, Ontario, spinster, who died 29 Nov. 1950.  Beneficiary was Millie Eleanor Marion Dubois, spinster for slightly under 2,000 pounds.  No mention of brother.
With that date you could contact the Windsor library to see if they can find an obituary for you.

Thanks Cosmac.
Yes that is definitely Halsted's Sister.
Millie Dubois is a niece.
Yes ,I thought that as well why Halsted was not mentioned.
The Windsor Library is a good idea which I will look into.
