Hi Bev, Mike Mahon is my long lost cousin.  Unfortunately I do not have any information on the Melia side of the family.  Best wishes,Mairi

Hi Mairi,

Thanks for the quick reply.  I hope you got on well with MyHeritage, i'm on both Ancestry and MyHeritage as I was able to upload the DNA to MyHeritage, where there is quite a bit of info on both the Mahon's and Melia's, i'm just missing some smaller details.

Best regards

Bev

Hi Bev,  that all sounds very interesting.  I know my cousin is quite active and we will soon be meeting up in Dublin.  I haven’t done the DNA test as yet but it is planned. Do you live in
Ireland. Best, Mairi

Hi Mairi,

No, I was brought up in North Wales, but now live on the Isle of Wight. I only found out a few years ago that my Dad was not my biological Father, who was Irish but didn't really do anything with the info until I did the DNA test. I was very lucky, as the person (from hundreds) at the top of my DNA list, was Agnes Mahon's Grandaughter, and my cousin, and she had already done lots of research on the Mahon's and Melias, so gave me a great start in finding details on my father.  I did the DNA test with Ancestry first but was able to upload it to MyHeritage for free, but you can't do it the other way round as Ancestry won't allow it.  Their testing of DNA is slightly different, so you will almost certainly find different people by doing both.  Regards, Bev

Hi, I am the great great grand daughter of Elizabeth Mahon born 1880, the daughter of William Mahon and Anne Greene.  I believe we are researching the same Mahon family.   She became Elizabeth Melia and that is my branch of the family tree.

I am particularly interested if anyone knows what happened Bridget (born in 1890) or other general information about what happened the rest of the family. I found some great information on here and didn't know about Mike Mahon, for example, or the dairy!

Thanks

Hi, I am her Great Grandaughter, with Patrick Melia being my Grandfather, which I only found out about last year.

It would be great to hear from you.
