  I can see also a birth registration of an Albert Overal Sept qtr 1920 Lanchester 10a 681 mmn Harrington, what is it with the Overall's and Harringtons?

Some records are showing as Overall, others as Overal.

In  addition to the records mentioned by Barryd, Durham Records Online has 8 records from the cemetry register for the surname Overal - the National Burial Index shows that they are all  buried in Blackhill Cemetry.They include Joseph( born and died 1889 - groindex again gives mmn  as Herrington), Edith Florence (b 1895 died 1937) and Albert (b 1880 died 1947). This would suggest, Keyboard 86, that the Braintree marriage you located may be the correct one.

Arthur Overal could be the one b 1915 Lanchester mmn Harrington, possibly married a Vera/Veronica Mcelhone Sept qtr 1939 West Hartlepool

Hi all

I take your point about Robert possibly being Albert it would explain the absence of any other records.

My father was Albert Overal b 1920 married to Lilian Craig.

Grandfather was Albert Overal(l) b 1880 married to Edith Florence Harrington.

Great Grandfather was Joseph O married to Eliza Harrington.

The Arthur who administered the will of Albert was my father's brother b 1915 and married to Vera Mcelhone.

I also have not found a birth record for Lizzie (Elizabeth) but she did witness one of the Overal marriages. She also married a Thompson and had 2 children but died shortly after the birth of the second child.

I will follow up the possibility that Robert is in fact Albert.

The Overalls and Harrington's originate from Finchingfield Essex and I have tracked back to 1720s.

Hi again, an Elizabeth Overall married a William H Thompson June qtr 1919 Lanchester, he looks to have remarried in 1923 to an Annie B Jenkinson .
