A Typo there Peter I think  ;D

Birth registered Mar Qtr 1890, Wandsworth.
GRO shows mms was REES
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/indexes_search.asp

Per Rootschat rules, unfortunately not permitted to request, nor do or post lookups for others in 1911 Census - you can search the publically available index' here:
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1921547

And you can certainly post details of the 1911 that you have found yourself.

Cheers

(In your original post above, you said born Registered March 1917, then asked for help with finding him Census 1891 to 1911  ;D ) - the 1917 bit is a mistake  -  we think you meant he was registered in the March Quarter of 1890.

This looks like the right family - the child Augustus below, was registered as Horace Augustus HOWARD in 1884, Wandsworth, mms: REES.  The child Leslie aged 1 looks to be your 'man', Thomas Leslie.

1891: at 88 North Street, Wandsworth
RG12 / Piece 447 / Folio 66 /Page 35
Head: Horace HOWARD 39, Tailor, b Hadleigh, Suffolk,
Wife: Emily 27, b Lambeth Surrey
Dau: Florence 8, b Battersea, Surrey
Son: Augustus 7, b Wandsworth, Surrey
Dau: Emily 5, b Wandsworth, Surrey
Son: William 2, b Wandsworth, Surrey
Son: Leslie 1, b Battersea,  Surrey

Horace Augustus HOWARD
Emily REES
Marriage June Qtr 1882, Wandsworth

Hi Peter,

Until recently, we were unable to ascertain a MMS from the usual sources for BMD civil records indexes (eg: FreeBMD) - but the GRO (General Register Office) have now released their index tool for the same records, and the mother's maiden surname (MMS)  is generally recorded.  I put the link there for you - you can search the indexes freely, once you have registered with the site.

Here is the link again:

Hello Ambly

That was astonishing
We have been looking for years to find Thomas - Listed as Leslie in 1891 census - I not surprised to now realise how much of a puzzle its been to resolve

Names given at birth and names actually used can be different

Thanks for the GRO link - this can also be used to cross check the other births in our family tree

Please where can we look to find any WW1 records he may have

Thanking you for your truly invaluable help

regards
Peter
