Worcester Street party

Can someone please try to date this street party ... taken in Worcester. Clothes and bunting may help.  Thank you. Sean

Could it be celebrating the coronation in 1953

I Wondered if it could be a WW2 Peace Party....V.E. was in May and they are wearing warm clothes.

Agree with Carol. It looks very much like the 1945 VE parties - I have a few photos of those and clothes of that era.

I expect you are correct . . . .  just wondering if one would expect to see more uniforms around in1945 . . . .  thought there are not many young men around are there.

The second and third people holding Union Jacks on the left above the table, have flags with motifs in the centers. Do these motifs represent the monarch?

Also there is a sign at the rear right which is mainly obscured, but it could read " God save" (God save the Queen?)

Therefore would go for a 1953 Coronation street party.


PS. Why are two boys at the front right holding model/toy aircraft?

It could be VE day celebrations, the forces were still very active at that time. It could be prior to eating or after but there seems a lack of food - maybe due to rationing?

VJ day was in August 1945, VE day in early May 1945 and the coronation a miserable early June day in 1953 - take your pick re the weather in UK.

Clothes and  headgear are more 1945 than 1953 - I remember 1953 and we had both a  street party and a  school party then

They look very similar - maybe more food and crowns in 1953
