Does anyone know how a butcher trained in Govan, Glasgow around 1920's.  Were the lads apprenticed, go to a school, etc.?

Your post is interesting.  My Dad worked for a butcher.  He was born in 1908 In Govan and his family died in 1911.  He came to Canada in 1925 so I don't know when or where this happened.  He had a favorite story of riding his bike with the basket filled with meat up and down hills.

There was a Tuesday football league for young Glasgow butchers as that was the half-day!  ;D

Thanks Skoosh,  Just seen your post.  I am not sure whether I am finding the exact place you mention but still cannot find how butchers trained at this time.  Thanks for your help
