Annie (Elizabeth Ann) Williams
« on: Thursday 24 August 17 18:19 BST (UK) »
Hello, can anyone help me find the correct death records for a great aunt, Elizabeth Ann Williams, known as Annie Williams ?  She was born Elizabeth Ann Body in Liskeard, Cornwall and married Llewelyn Williams in the Pontypridd district in 1902.  They had three children, Ruth 1903, William James 1905 and Llewelyn 1907.  Llewelyn senior died in 1907 and their youngest child was born a few months later.

The family story is that Annie hanged herself at a school where she worked. We think it was either 1910 or 1911.  In 1917 Llewelyn (son) is baptised and the address given is that of his grandmother Lavinia Body, nee Payne, in Llanwonno.  I cannot find any mention of his siblings or where the children were between 1911 and 1917 and I have searched newspapers online but have found no mention of the suicide.

Has anyone any idea where I can look next ?

Could this be her, same area as her husband I think?

Deaths Dec 1911
Williams    Elizabeth    29    Carnarvon    11b   501

If that is her she should appear in the 1911 census.

If they were still in the Pontypridd District would this  death be more likely?

Deaths Dec 1913
Williams    Elizabeth A    29    Pontypridd    11a   626

Do you know when she was born?

Either of those two she should be on the 1911. Yours does look more likely, Giggsy.

On the 1911 possible grandmother is a school cleaner and the grandchildren aren't with her, so if the correct  Lavinia, the suicide would be after the census date.

Trouble is it's a common name. Have we got a date of birth so we can check that against age at death?

There are 4 Elizabeth Ann Body's born in Liskeard

1839, 1851, 1859 and 1882

I think we've got to be looking at the 1882 one

If they went into a children's home it would be the ones in Church Village (under 5s in Maesycoed)

Glamorgan Archives hold the records, may be worth trying them
