« on: Friday 25 August 17 07:01 BST (UK) »
Is there any one, that could tell me, the reason my grandfather from Glasgow would enlist in the Enniskillen Fusilers. would he have had to travel to Ulster to do this,or could he have enlisted in Glasgow.

Thank you   Danny.

Depending on when he attested (or joined up), he would have just been allocated to whatever Regiments were short of personnel.

Conscripts didn't choose their Regiment ;D

He would have attested in Glasgow.
And then he would have been allocated to a Regiment.

My family members, from Somerset and Wiltshire, were in the Welsh Regiment.

Many Glaswegians had Irish connections and chose to enlist in Irish regiments. As has been explained, the date of enlistment may be a factor.
